Art in the Gardens silver anniversary event at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens promises to be full of gorgeousness; wonderful blooms will surround you as you stroll the pathways enjoying art, wine, music, and delicious food. “Art in Action” is the focus this year, and you’ll be able to see how art is made – a peek at the real creative processes of several very different California artists.
Meet the Artists
Meet all of the participating artists in person while sampling wines from our region’s fine vineyards like Barra of Mendocino Organic Wines, Frey Vineyards Organic and Biodynamic wines, McNab Ridge and more. Sweet and savory food samples will include offerings from Tsunami Nacho Truck, Cowlick’s Ice Cream, Piaci Pub and Pizzeria, A Sweet Affair, and Rhody’s Garden Cafe on site, to name just a few. Beer aficionados will be able to quaff a beer from North Coast, Mad River or Ukiah Brewing Company.
The scent of flowers and the sound of music will fill the air all day long with classic rock, country, folk, blues, tap-style guitar, flamenco and classic guitar, jazz, and eclectic contemporary musicians on hand to entertain and delight the crowds.

World Famous Featured Artist John Fisher
John Fisher became a self-supporting artist at the early age of nineteen. He and his wife Sandy Oppenheimer, a renowned collage artist, lived for 20 years in Italy where he could access the best marble in the world for his sculptures. They raised their daughter in Italy, creating a group studio and making amazing art and sculpture. When the family came back to the states in 2005, he and Sandy concentrated on large public art projects all along the west coast. Fisher continues to carve marble, including a recent monumental sculpture in China, but he is also slowly transitioning into creating more paintings, where his original love of art began. His sculpture Prayer will be on view in the perennial garden during the event.
Tickets available online, at The Garden Store, Harvest Market, and Out of This World: General admission tickets $20 in advance or $30 at the door ($5 children ages 6 to 16; Free for children under 5) | $25 additional for wine or beer tasting.
