In a previous post, we invited local residents and visitors to participate in the Fort Bragg Coastal Trail Celebration, which is the only official North Coast event that is planned for National Trails Day, on Saturday, June 4th, from noon – 4:00 p.m. That will be a terrific event, and we hope you can make it! Fortunately, the beautiful Coastal Trail will be here to enjoy year-round, and there are great events that are held in Fort Bragg every month.
If you’re traveling here from out-of-town, the next big event to enjoy is the World’s Largest Salmon BBQ, which is held annually on the first Saturday in July, in Noyo Harbor. This year, it falls on July 2nd, so the Salmon BBQ will be a festive and tasty lead-in to the rest of the July 4th Weekend in Fort Bragg!
Salmon BBQ Tickets are $30 at the door, or $25 in advance at the Harvest Market, or online (until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1st). The cost is just $10.00 for kids who are age 12 and under. Admission to the event without eating the salmon BBQ is free — but, of course, you’re going to want to have some savory salmon BBQ, especially when you smell it cooking! Come listen to live music and enjoy the afternoon in lovely, picturesque Noyo Harbor!
The BBQ starts at 11:00 a.m. and goes until 6:00 p.m. No dogs are allowed in the dining area.
Sponsors include the following local businesses:
In addition to the World’s Largest Salmon BBQ, on the July 4th Weekend, you can enjoy a delightful small-town parade in Mendocino, just a few miles down the coast from Fort Bragg, on July 4th; and a fireworks display in Fort Bragg, visible in the the skies over Pomo Bluffs and Todd’s Point at the entrance to Noyo Harbor. While the actual display does not begin until around 9:00 p.m. (dusk), parking is available starting at 6:00 p.m. Parking is $10 and is available on South Trail parking lot and runway (Cypress St entrance) and by Mendocino College on Todd’s Point. Pomo Bluffs Park is free for cars with Handicap identification.
No alcohol or personal fireworks are allowed on Noyo Beach. There will be a checkpoint in the north harbor for those wanting to view the fireworks from the beach. If you would like to support the event with an additional donation, click here, and donations will also be accepted at Mendo-Lake Credit Union locations.
Please remember that personal fireworks are illegal in all of Mendocino County. This is especially critical due to the high fire danger and the continued drought. Bring a blanket, lawn chairs and a picnic and enjoy the display, but please leave alcohol, fireworks and pets at home.
If you’re from out-of-town and planning to visit Fort Bragg, it is important to be aware that motels, inns, campsites and RV parks fill up early in July. Be sure to visit the lodging, food, and shopping areas of the Business Listings on this web site for suggestions. We hope you’ll join us for the World’s Largest Salmon BBQ and the entire July 4th Weekend!
