Soup and Chili Cook-Off at Portuguese Hall

Starting out at 4:00 p.m. this Saturday, October 21, you can preview silent auction baskets filled with wine and other treats, and at 5:00 p.m. start sampling a variety of delicious soup and chili recipes while enjoying a beverages from a no-host bar. This fun and tasty event benefits the Fort Bragg Food Bank, and you get to vote for your favorite soup and chili, too! Weekends: the Sequoia Room at North Coast Brewing Company is THE Place for Jazz

Downbeat MagazineEach weekend you can find great jazz while enjoying world famous micro-brews, fine wines, cocktails and dinner at the Sequoia Room. The North Coast Brewing Company provides an intimate venue that was one of only six jazz clubs with a feature article in Downbeat Magazine’s 2017 International Jazz Venue Guide.  We can vouch for the ambience – there’s not a bad seat in the house. No wonder Downbeat called it “one of the finest-sounding jazz clubs in the country.” Friday nights are generally no-cover events featuring a variety of local musicians. Zoppe Italian Family Circus at Todd’s Point for Seven Performances November 2-5

Zope Family CircusThe Zoppé Circus has carried on the Italian family tradition for 175 years. Once again, the Big Top goes up in Fort Bragg on Todd’s Point with a full on story-driven event you won’t soon forget. Everything from acrobats, horses, and clowns will delight your entire family. This year, the Zoppe organization is offering free tickets to evacuees from the tragic fires inland (7:00 p.m. performance on Thursday November 2nd). Mendocino County Mushroom, Wine and Beer Fest November 3 – 12

This county-wide celebration offers a myriad of events, including some right here in Fort Bragg and environs. The Fort Bragg Library offers an enlightening evening slide show featuring Dr. Teresa Sholars on Art of the FORAY: Edible Mushrooms and Toxic Look-Alikes on Friday, November 3 from 4:30 -6:30 p.m.and free Mushroom ID Walk for Beginners from 12:30-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5.

Mushrooms Visit MendocinoThe Stanford Inn’s Mushroom Exploration Tours are Friday to Sunday both weekends, and a Medicinal Mushroom Breakfast will be served both festival Sundays from 8:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m featuring creative, eco-friendly cuisine and printed hand-outs about the health benefits of these amazing fungi. Also, Stanford Inn’s nutritionist and chefs offer a fun and inspiring way to learn nutrition and mushroom cooking, with yummy samples at the Mushroom Nutrition and Cooking Class on Sunday November 5 from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.

On Monday, November 6, there will be a Mushroom Walk at Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, home of more than 150 species of mushrooms. The gardens well-informed mycologist, Mario Abreu will take you on a mushroom walk where you’ll enjoy learning mushroom lore from an expert. On Tuesday, November 7, the three course Blue Collar Winemaker Dinner at Cucina Verona features Steele Wines at only $6.00 per glass and mushroom expert Eric Schramm on hand for Q & A. He’s amazing!

Wid Fish Visit MendocinoWednesday evening  November 8, the Wild Fish Winemaker Dinner starts at 6:00 p.m. offering six delectable courses and delicious Yorkville Cellars wine pairings. Friday evening,  November 10, Little River Inn Annual Mushroom and Belgian Beer Dinner starts at 6:00 p.m. featuring Chef Marc Dym’s creations and Russian River Brewing Company’s perfectly crafted ales. Caspar Pub Night is from 6:30-9:30 p.m with a friendly open mic for songsters and a delicious mushroom-themed dinner focusing on local, organic food – vegan and gluten-free options are available – beer and wine for sale.

A Saturday, November 11 Mushroom Foray and Cooking Class in Fort Bragg is from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. highlighting wild mushrooms and local ingredients. Sunday, November 12 brings the Fungi Finale – A Walk on the Wild Side from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m at Jughandle Creek Farm, with a guided mushroom hike, yummy nibbles, drinks, and a talk by local mushroom guru Eric Schramm.

Gloriana Musical Theatre Company Special Event to Launch Young Performers Production

Gloriana Hurricane SmithHurricane Smith, a young performer’s production directed by Andrew Atkinson and David Kosonen launches the Indiana Jones-style adventure with a special gala performance Sunday, November 5. After the play, the audience is invited to celebrate with cast and crew to enjoy refreshments, drinks, desserts, and more.
