Days of Wine and Rhodies

Days of Wine and Rhodies… what a great title… I wish I could take credit for it.

It was penned by Laurie McAndish King, travel writer for the San Francisco Examiner in a blog entry about her recent visit to Fort Bragg.

This opening of her post was so interesting it inspired me to make a trip to Celeri & Son myself …

“This plant is having sex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 3 or 4 months; it’s very strenuous!” Jim Celeri is showing me a gorgeous rhododendron that is in full bloom, and explaining the plant’s need for water.

With Jim’s help and expert advice, we came home with 4 new plants. Today I plan to return for another, which we need to replace a beautiful old giant that’s reached the end of her life.

To find out more about Laurie’s Fort Bragg insights, rhodies, and Celeri & Sons, read the rest of her blog.

Hello! I’m glad you enjoyed the article; thanks for the post and link. You’re so fortunate to live in Fort Bragg; it’s *absolutely* a gem. I was especially impressed with the knowledgeable and friendly horticulturists I met. I’m looking forward to visiting again, and learning — and writing — more about Fort Bragg.
