Independence Day Weekend Celebrations

Print This Post Print This Post

Fireworks will light up the sky over the Pacific Ocean on Friday July 3rd to kick off a weekend of Independence Day events. The annual fireworks show attracts hundreds of locals and visitors to see the explosion of light and color over Pomo Bluffs Park (also called Todd Point) in Fort Bragg.

Show up early to get a good parking spot and be sure to bring blankets and snacks – the event is packed. Fireworks can be viewed from the park, the parking lots, College of The Redwoods, Noyo Beach, the Noyo Bridge and other spots on the south end of town.

This favorite annual event is sponsored by the Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce and made possible with the support of the Fort Bragg Police Department.

The World’s Largest Salmon BBQ follows on Saturday July 4th. From 11 am-6 pm in South Noyo Harbor, the air will be filled with the aroma of grilled salmon, served with salad and corn on the cob. More than 5,000 pounds of fish, 5,000 ears of corn, 1,000 pounds of salad, and 850 loaves of bread are served!

Parking for the event is available at the College of the Redwoods, and shuttles will be running regularly during the day.

The Salmon Restoration Association has been hosting the event every year as a fundraiser for local efforts since 1970.

Also be sure to check out special offers from local businesses for the weekend.

I was wondering if there will be a firework celebration on 4th of july

  2. Danielle Says:

Well most of us locals thought we would actually have fireworks on 4th of July for once, but no even though it is a Saturday. The fireworks display will be on July 3rd at dusk, that’s it.

  3. Johanna Says:

Unfortunately in these tough economic times, the City had to choose between paying less for fireworks on the 3rd, or not have them at all. Hopefully things will be better next year.

I dont see why they cant do the salmon bbq on the 3rd. and the fireworks display on the 4th. Or have the salmon bbq in the afternoon on the 4th. and then later in the day do the fireworks display.
