Are We Having Fungi Yet?

When Oprah tells you to check it out, people listen. The latest issue of O magazine includes the Mendocino Wine and Mushroom Festival as one of her 6 Food Festivals That Are Worth The Trip.

The Wine & Mushroom Festival is November 6–15, and Fort Bragg has lots to offer. The Mendo Bistro and the Rendezvous Restaurant offer mushroom-themed menus, Liquid Fusion has scheduled serene kayak tours of wild fungi along the Noyo River, and the Skunk Train is offering mushroom and wine tastings on their vintage steam locomotive as it winds it’s way from Fort Bragg through the towering redwoods.

And here’s an insider’s tip, something Oprah and her readers don’t know about…  You can top it all off with a scoop, or two, of surprisingly delicious mushroom ice cream!  Cowlick’s Handmade Ice Cream makes the maple-flavored ice cream from Candy Cap mushrooms, which grow only along the California coast.
