Spectacular, Accessable Fort Bragg

Outdoor recreation is big in Fort Bragg, and a number of places make it easy for mature or disabled visitors to enjoy our spectacular parks and trails.
Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens
One of my favorites is the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. They have 3 motorized scooters they loan out so all visitors can contemplate, learn, relax, touch, smell, feel, enjoy, be inspired, exercise their dog, or just experience the fragile joys of life.

Pudding Creek Trestle
The recently restored Pudding Creek Trestle is another spot where slow walkers – and people on wheels – can enjoy being outdoors. It’s just a short roll from nearby motels and inns; folks further away can drive and park in handicap spots adjacent to the trestle’s southern end. This is a wonderful spot to watch the sunset, spot shorebirds searching for breakfast, or watch families playing on the beach below.

The Old Haul Road
At the northern end of the trestle is an old logging road that’s closed to cars but open for foot, bike and wheelchair traffic. It’s now known as the Haul Road, and it’s part of MacKerricher State Park. It can be a bit bumpy, but it offers miles of beautiful headland and ocean views.
