Kayaking Through Northern California Redwoods
Print This Page
Skunk Train Owner Robert Pinoli and Liquid Fusion Kayaking’s founders Cate Hawthorne and Jeff Lazur teamed up in 2010 to create a unique experience for lovers of California redwoods. And, you can take your kids and pets with you.
Dubbed Tracks to Kayaks, it’s the adventure of a lifetime.
You start the adventure at the Skunk Train Depot in Fort Bragg and travel 30 miles through tall stands of Northern California Redwoods to Northspur, the half-way point on the train’s daily trip to Willits.
At Northspur, you disembark with Jeff and Cate and put your kayaks in the Noyo River Estuary for the 2.5-mile paddle back to Fort Bragg.
Along the way, you’ll see redwoods, of course, and learn about local wildlife and flowers.
Exploring Northern California redwoods by kayak is a trip back through time – to the days when roads were dirt paths and rivers were America’s highways.
Jeff and Cate also offer classes at the C.V. Starr Community Center, Fort Bragg’s new family-oriented aquatic center and recreation facility.
