FORT BRAGG PROMOTION COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES
VIDEO CONTEST WINNERS –
Submitted by the Fort Bragg Promotion Committee
FORT BRAGG, Calif. – December 30, 2009 – Mateo Ortiz’ “A Place to Have Fun and Relax” was the winner of the City of Fort Bragg Promotion Committee’s 2009 Community Video Contest. He has been awarded first prize, a 5th generation iPod Nano with built-in video camera.
“We liked the energy and the flow,” the three judges agreed. “It made us want to come here. It also features a LOT of different things to do in Fort Bragg and really highlights some of our greatest festivals, and places to go and see.”
The City of Fort Bragg Promotion Committee created the contest to “showcase the best of Fort Bragg,” explained Johanna Jensen, a member of the Promotion Committee.
The judges selected five other “excellent videos” for honorable mention, noting: “we saw a lot of creative approaches to telling the Fort Bragg story. It was a tough choice.”
Those awarded an honorable mention and a $20 local merchant gift certificate are Louis W. Bohannan (a dog’s perspective of Fort Bragg), Aaron Kremen (a rapper’s view of city highlights), Ron Bloomquist (Skunk Trains and tunnels), Cate Hawthorne and Jeff Laxier(Fort Bragg outdoor adventures), and Dory Breaux (a close-up of the Mendocino Botanical Gardens).
“If you have video you think helps tell the story of Fort Bragg as a great place to visit, please submit a link from the video on YouTube.com via email to promotion@fortbragg.com for possible inclusion on our website,” Johanna Jensen said.
All the videos submitted by the judging deadline have been posted on Fort Bragg.com, where between 16,000 and 21,000 visitors drop by a month to plan their trips to the Coast. Managed by the City’s volunteer Promotion Committee, FortBragg.com is the city’s official tourism website.
