Heritage Days of Mendocino County was started in 2003 as a Mendocino Village-only event. Now in the 8th year, Heritage Days activities have been added all across Mendocino County and Fort Bragg is a big part of the celebration.

For the next 30 days, tourists and locals will attend lectures, participate in walking tours, watch demonstrations and view exhibits in recognition of Fort Bragg’s rich history, including our Native American history.

Some of this year’s local organizers have auspicious anniversaries this year:

  • 100 Years for Fort Bragg Library
  • 100 Years for Fort Bragg-to-Willits Run on California Western Railroad (better known as the Skunk Train)
  • 50 Years for the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens

—Saturday, April 30, 2011—

11 am • Mendocino Historic District Walking Tour • $10 • 1 ½ hrs • Kelley House Museum, MendocinoDocent-led tour visits houses of important pioneers and grand meeting places of the 1800s, including the Presbyterian Church, the Kwan Tai Chinese Temple, and the Masonic Temple.

Guest House Museum, Main Street, Fort Bragg

1:30–5 pm • 34th Annual John Drueker Memorial Rhododendron Show & Plant Sale • Dana Gray Elementary School, Fort Bragg • The 34th Annual John Drueker Memorial Rhododendron Show, “There’s No Place Like Home”, at Dana Gray Elementary School. A juried show with over 700 entries, it is one of the largest Rhododendron Shows on the West Coast. Enjoy spectacular flowers, arrangements, locally hybridized plants, displays, and sale.
