Fort Bragg dog lovers joined Visit Mendocino County (VMC) at Bark in the Park Saturday, Sept 18th.

Hairy Putter, our charming Dog  Blogger, and official Director of Barketing for Mendocino County, was on hand to tell people about his favorite places.

He also helped sell more than 600 chances to win an all natural FloBeds dog bed, or an overnight stay at the Beachcomber, Little River Inn, Inn at School House Creek or the MacCullum House Inn.  Proceeds from the drawing will be donated to MCDOG and the Humane Society for Inland Mendocino County.

Hairy and his helpers told at least 1,800 people about Fort Bragg being named #5 on Dog Fancy’s list of Top 10 Dog Towns in the country. Harry also made certain everyone got a Visit Mendocino bag, the new literature that explains why Fort Bragg is such a great dog town, and his Pet Friendly Travel Guide.

Of course everyone wanted to meet Hairy, who was his most charming self, allowing photos and as much petting as requested.  If you haven’t met Hairy, here’s how his blog describes what he does, “Mendocino’s own roving canine reporter, Hairy Putter, will be bringing you a first paw account of his experiences during visits to various establishments or locations that have advertised themselves as being “Pet Friendly”.  Each place will be rated on their effort to cause lots of tail wagging satisfaction and truly make the effort to fulfill a canine’s desire”.

Bark in the Park was great fun, with many vendors and dog events of all kinds, including Mutts in Motion Fly Ball Demonstration and Clinic. The people who heard about Fort Bragg say they’re anxious to come to such a pet-friendly place. See you at the dog park!
