The Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino County need your help to continue our work providing services without charge to anyone facing cancer in Mendocino County. This annual event brings our community together in a beautiful setting to honor and remember friends and family who have been affected by cancer. In many cases, these are individuals and families served by Mendocino Coast District Hospital in Fort Bragg.
The goal is to raise $25,000 — which can be accomplished if each walker/paddler raises at least $200. The more contributions raised, the more successful the event.
Event Details: The day will begin with an opening remembrance ceremony, followed by a community walk along the Big River haul road, and paddling along the beautiful Big River estuary. Music will be provided by Mixed Nuts, and Bill Lemos will lead a historical walk. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.
Collecting Pledges: Participants should start collecting pledges as soon as possible. Pledges may be brought to the Cancer Resource Center during business hours prior to the event. Final pledges must be turned in at 9:30am the morning of the event along with registration fees. Offices are located in Mendocino at 45040 Calpella St., and in Ukiah, at 590 South Dora Street.
Win A Prize: Gather the most pledges totaling over $1,000 and win a guided bioluminescent tour on a nine-person outrigger canoe for you and your friends along Mendocino’s Big River Estuary generously donated by Catch a Canoe & Bicycles Too!
Questions/Pledge Sheets: For questions or to volunteer, call the CRCMC Mendocino office at (707) 937-3833. For more information on registration and for pledge sheets, visit: www.crcmendocino.org.
Registration: A $25 registration fee to walk or paddle is payable at the event, or you can register at: www.crcmendocino.org. You can also call to register ahead of time at (707) 937-3833, (707) 467-3828, or 1-800-449-6483 Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm.
All proceeds will benefit the Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino County. Since 1995, CRCMC has been providing services free of charge to those facing cancer in Mendocino County.
