With the Christmas and Winter Holidays approaching, it’s time to begin planning some unforgettable memories for the family.

How about a short getaway or vacation to Fort Bragg, on California’s beautiful Coast where you can find exciting shopping, charming B&B’s, and great restaurants — all in the comfort of a friendly small town?

Here are the highlights of some of our holiday activities:

First Friday Art Walk & Holiday Festivities: Friday, December 6th, 5-8pm

A number of downtown businesses and art galleries open their doors “after hours” on the first Friday of the month, often serving wine and appetizers.

Festival of Lights, December 6-22

Once again Mendocino Botanical Garden presents its popular Festival of Lights featuring luminaria-lit walkways and thousands of colorful lights throughout the gardens. It’s magical, and something you won’t want to miss. A blaze of color, hot cocoa, cookies and other refreshments — no wonder this has become a holiday tradition for so many!

Visit many lovely Inns along the Mendocino Coast — including Fort Bragg — enjoying refreshments plus art & live entertainment by youth musicians at each stop! Benefits  Mendocino Unified School Enrichment (MUSE) fund. For updated information on inns and tickets at www.mendocinoinntour.com.

The Christmas Train – December 5 – 23

Holiday Lights Parade & Celebration: Saturday, December 7

The beloved seasonal celebration is sponsored this year by the Fort Bragg Volunteer Fire Department and the North Coast Rodders Car Club this year.

5pm: Festivities begin when Santa and Mrs. Claus visit with the children and pass out cookies and candy at the Guest House Museum.

6 pm:  Tree Lighting Ceremony – Local musicians and community groups entertain with carols and traditional Christmas music. The Mayor officially lights the giant tree on the lawn of the Guest House Museum.
