You can feel it in the chill of the air… soon the bells will be ringing, and children will be singing! Holiday cheer will be spreading throughout Fort Bragg in December.  Check out the events and special offers from local businesses below.

First Friday Art Walk & Holiday Festivities: December4th, 5-8pm

A number of downtown businesses and art galleries open their doors “after hours” on the 1st Friday of the month, often serving wine and appetizers. December’s event will feature special holiday treats such as carolers & gift wrapping; a great chance to start your holiday shopping and support local businesses!

Holiday Lights Parade & Celebration: Saturday, December 5th

The beloved seasonal celebration is sponsored this year by the Fort Bragg Volunteer Fire Department and the North Coast Rodders Car Club this year. Be sure to give them a big thanks!

5pm: Festivities begin when Santa and Mrs. Claus visit with the children and pass out cookies and candy at the Guest House Museum.

6 pm:  Tree Lighting Ceremony – Local musicians and community groups entertain with carols and traditional Christmas music. The Mayor officially lights the giant tree on the lawn of the Guest House Museum.

7pm: The Holiday Lights Parade will illuminate downtown Fort Bragg!

Annual Holiday Ceramic Sale  at College of the Redwoods

Saturday, December 5th from 10 AM to 4 PM in room 207 at the Mendocino Coast Campus of College of the Redwoods, 1211 Del Mar Drive, Fort Bragg (on Todd’s Point). There will be wonderful ceramics and great prices for your holiday shopping!

“Friends in for the Holidays” at Edgewater Gallery

Edgewater Gallery will be having a special, big show for the month of December (Dec. 2-30th) “Friends in for the Holidays.” All of the regular members of the Edgewater Gallery have invited a friend in to share their space for the month. Everyone is invited to the opening reception for the artists Friday, December 4th from 5 to 8 PM, refreshments will be served.

East Laurel Street Merchants will stay open late during the Holiday Season. Andrea Luna, Ocean Dragonfly,
Splendiferous, Green Door Studio and The Frame Mill will be open until 7pm on Fridays beginning after Thanksgiving until the Friday before Christmas. Shop local!

Fridays on Franklin Street: The merchants on Franklin Street are planning a festive month long celebration. Susan Winding of Whistlestop Antiques explains, “Our goal is to make the holidays easier and less stressful so people can spend more time enjoying their friends and family.”  Their main event, “Fridays on Franklin” begins the Friday after Thanksgiving and lasts until Christmas. 16 stores on North Franklin Street will be open every Friday until 7:30, offering a variety of in-store events, sales and promotions, music and refreshments.  They’re also sponsoring a gift wrapping station. Wrapping will be free for purchases from participating stores, and inexpensive with a small donation to Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and Safe Passage for your other gifts.

The Rendezvous Inn & Restaurant in Fort Bragg is offering a three-course wild mushroom tasting menu, “Take a Walk on the Wild Side!” Local wines, available by the glass, are paired with each of the courses. The menu will be available nightly through at least the end of January.  The menu can be viewed on our website. $50.00 per person; $77.50 with suggested wines. Our menu has been mentioned in the San Francisco Chronicle and Sunset Magazine’s November issue.
