Rainy days don’t have to make you blue.  We certainly need the rainfall to fill our rivers and our wells. Plus, they provide us with new opportunities, the chance to do something that we might not do unless it is raining. Here are a few ideas (in no particular order)…

  1. Enjoy a hot beverage downtown in one of the cafes or the new Fort Bragg Bakery. In this little town, chances are you’ll probably run into everyone you know & a cup of coffee will turn into an epic social engagement.

  2. Watch a movie filmed in Fort Bragg. Our fabulous local video store, Figueiredo’s has a wall designated for movies filmed locally. For a selection of films featuring Fort Bragg, click here.

  3. Take the whole family to the CV Starr Community Center & Pool. No need to feel cooped-up when you can swim, bike, run and more in this new facility, great for people of all ages.

  4. Cook up a fresh Dungeness crab and enjoy with friends. They are in season right now, and you won’t mind the time it takes to crack them open when it’s raining outside.

  5. Cozy up in one of the great new or used bookstores downtown.

  6. Visit the Guest House Museum or the Triangle Tattoo Museum. Maybe you’ve lived here your whole life and never explored these local wonders? I recommend it. Each museum holds a ton of awesome artifacts and fascinating information about the history of local logging and the art of tattooing, respectively.

  7. Do a jigsaw puzzle. Some of the art and toy shops downtown have great puzzle selections, or you can always check at the thrift store if you don’t mind a couple missing pieces.

  8. Enjoy a glass of wine during happy hour in one of the lovely restaurants or inns.

  9. Put on your rain gear and go puddle hopping. While our slick new streets are puddle proof, Fort Bragg still has many great alleys and parking lots for puddle jumping.

  10. “Sit by the fire, play board games, and drink cosmos!” This is a suggestion from a local on our Facebook page. To tell us what you like to do on a rainy day, click here.
