People are discovering how interesting it is to walk around our little town. First there was Ron’s quirky blog Walking Fort Bragg and the Oddities he described in his free self-guided walking tour map. The Oddities map is available on-line, at the Visitor’s Center (217 S. Main St), City Hall and various downtown businesses.
Then came Street Corners of Fort Bragg, a historical walking guide produced by the Native Daughters of the Golden West – Fort Bragg Parlor #210. It has nine different downtown locations on the map with references to about 50 historic sites and buildings. Their map is available at City Hall, the Visitor’s Center and many retailers downtown too.
For more history, check out the Mendocino Coast Historic Society’s recently published self-guided walking tour of Historic Fort Bragg. You can find it at the Guest House Museum as well as the Visitor Center and downtown shops.
The latest project is just getting started. The Fort Bragg Garden Club would like you to tell them about your favorite downtown sidewalk garden so they can select the gardens that will receive their Sidewalk Garden Awards. So if you’ve discovered a special garden on your walk around town, share it with GinaBell Smith at email@example.com before Thursday, July 22. We’ll keep you posted about the winners and how to find them.
