Saturday, March 17 is Saint Patrick’s Day, and the Skunk Train’s special Leprechauns Locomotive leaves the station in Fort Bragg at 4:00 p.m. (right after all of the Whale Festival activities in Fort Bragg). Be sure to wear green; the best dressed leprechaun wins a prize. Yummy comestibles on board include Guinness/Irish Cheddar Hand Pies and Irish Potato Salad, and you’ll be able to wet your whistle with North Coast Brewing Company’s Old #38 Irish Dry Stout while you enjoy the lilting sounds of live Celtic music. Vegan, gluten-free, and non-alcoholic options are available, too! Get all the details here.
Not to be outdone in celebrating the Irish holiday, the ever-creative chefs at Cucina Verona have a St. Paddy’s day menu lined up with special dishes like Walnut Crusted Salmon with a Guinness Reduction, Scotch Broth made with lamb, cabbage, barley, and turnips, and Chocolate Stout Cupcakes with Bailey’s Irish Cream Gelato.

The gardens are also the place to enjoy weekly Rhododendron walks every Saturday through April 28. The gardens boast more than 124 species of rhododendrons, and the guided walks are free with garden admission.
Emerald Dolphin Mini Golf celebrates their annual Easter Carnival, too. Kids can play free mini golf, enjoy carnival games, a bounce house, free craft and game tables and an Easter Egg Hunt.
