Enjoy the Festival of Lights
We’re rounding the corner to the festive holiday season here in Fort Bragg, and what better way to celebrate than the Annual Festival of Lights at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, which opens Thanksgiving weekend. Meander through the lanes and take in the magic and wonder of the creative light displays. Then, warm up in the tent with live music, hot cocoa, spiced cider, local wine and beer, sweet treats, and holiday shopping. It’s a great event for families, and will be open (rain or shine) every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. from November 24 through December 17.
Shop Small Saturday
We’re proud of our home town merchants. So many of them have signed up to participate in Shop Small Saturday this November 25. Join the small town revolution and say goodbye to traffic jams, crowded malls, and harried people. We guarantee you’ll absolutely love shopping in Fort Bragg and Mendocino, and you can pick up Show Love #Shop Small cards from local merchants to win cool gift baskets, too. Stay tuned to the Mendocino Coast Chamber and Visit Fort Bragg Facebook pages to see the dazzling array of gifts you could win!
Also on Thanksgiving Weekend is the Fort Bragg Craft Fair Friday and Saturday November 24 and 25 at the Old Rec Center Corner of Laurel and Franklin right behind City Hall.

See a Movie and Visit Santa at Coast Cinemas
Bring the family and enjoy two classic holiday movies on the big screen at Coast Cinemas in Fort Bragg. Film showings begin with a chance to visit with Santa at 10:00 a.m. Screenings are at 10:30 a.m. All proceeds benefit the Mendocino Film Festival.
Wear Your Pajamas on the Christmas Skunk Train
Another opportunity for families to spend time with Santa is the magical Skunk Train ride to and from Willits. Hop on board December 2 – December 23, and you’ll have fun singing carols, playing holiday games, drinking hot chocolate, and nibbling on cookies while you whiz by some gorgeous scenery on our world renowned Skunk Train. Take home a holiday mug to remember the ride. The train rides do fill up, so book your tickets early.
Many of our local restaurants in the area are open for holiday meals. We have a list here at the chamber, so give us a call at 707-961-6300, and if you want to know about other activities along the coast, be sure to check the Visit Mendocino County website.
