Halloween Fun: Day of the DeadHalloween Fun: Dia de los Muertos
Day of the Dead is a festive, joyous occasion for remembering loved ones who have passed. Fort Bragg honors the Day of the Dead celebration for the entire month of October, including All Saint’s Day on November 1 and All Soul’s Day November 2. The annual Day of the Dead Altar Walk takes place in downtown Fort Bragg, with 32 local merchants displaying beautiful altars. Pick up an altar map at any participating merchant, at the Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce, or at the Fort Bragg library, where there will be a collection of personal altars from the community. On October 13, there will be a Memory Box Class at Interior on Redwood Avenue. Boxes, tools, and craft supplies will be provided. Bring photographs, typed words or phrases, and other memorabilia to meaningfully honor loved ones who have passed. $10 suggested donation. Call 707-962-1651 to sign up.

Halloween Fun: Get your Costume
One of the most enjoyable aspects of Halloween celebrations is lining up the perfect costume. You’ll find a wide variety of options at The Rental Place in Fort Bragg, Hospice Thrift Store, The Ark Thrift Store or Paul Bunyan Thrift Store. Pick and choose to become your favorite ghost or goblin, superhero, princess, witch, or weirdo. Paul Bunyan even has some patterns for making togs for wee tricksters. Go early for best selection!
