Horseback Riding: Shoreline Riders Rodeo

The exciting 53rd Annual Shoreline Riders Rodeo will be held on Saturday and Sunday August 11th and 12th at Shoreline Riders Arena in Fort Bragg. Rodeo events include bareback bronc riding, bull riding, cowgirl’s barrel racing, cowgirl’s breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, and team roping. Kids under six are free, and $10 tickets are sold at the gate. Start time is 1:00 p.m. each day, and there’s a cowboy breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m both days. Win raffle prizes, have fun and see horseback riding, bucking broncos and other rodeo attractions in a small and intimate arena. Fort Bragg Coastal Trail Celebration on August 5

Mark your calendars and come celebrate the newly completed coastal trail! The City of Fort Bragg is collaborating with the Noyo Center for Marine Science, and the Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District to commemorate the completion of the beautiful new trails along Noyo Headlands Park. For the first time in over 100 years, all of the coastal lands along the western border of Fort Bragg are open to the public. Trails feature remarkable ocean views, benches designed and built by local artists, and a new visitor hall for the Noyo Center. Festivities launch with the 2nd Annual Noyo Headlands Race – a half marathon, 10K, 5K and kiddie race that starts at noon (registration at 7:30 a.m.). Activities including live music from Steven Bates and other local bands, a display of the largest Blue Whale Skeleton in North America, a petting zoo, a Coast Guard demonstration, logging demonstration, Mendocino Coast Humane Society pet adoption, North Coast Brewing Company beer garden, local food vendors, circus acts, kids activities (including a bounce house) and much more. The Noyo Center for Marine Science will have events near the Crow’s Nest Interpretive Center that will focus awareness on their Help the Kelp initiative, a collaborative effort to restore our kelp which has been decimated in recent years.
