Mendocino Coast Garden: Art in the Gardens
Art in the Gardens is celebrating 26 years of art, flowers, cuisine, and fine wines at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. It’s a sparklng, fun-filled day amidst the gorgeous summer blooms on the 47-acre property. As you stroll the paths in the gardens, you’ll find beautiful artwork, listen to great musical groups, and stop at booths to sample gourmet food, beer, and wine. You’ll find all kinds of cool artworks, from ceramics, glass, painting, sculpture, and textiles, to woodworking. Mingle with the artists and musicians, and sample a wide array of fine wines from around Mendocino County. Wine tasting tickets are available online or at the event. Craft brews are for sale with complimentary tastings on the Event Lawn, and food vendors will be scattered throughout the garden trails. Featured artist this year is realist painter Sanna M. Koski , born and bred in Fort Bragg.
Music will include American roots, jazz, pop, soul, southern rock, blues, country, folk, and classic rock. Cuisine will be varied with A Sweet Affair, Cowlicks Ice Cream, Croux and Company, Los Gallitos, Pilón Kitchen, Rhody’s Garden Cafe, Sugar Coated Catering, Tenadam Catering, Thanksgiving Coffee Company and The Q on hand to tempt your taste buds. Wine will be plentiful, with the opportunity to taste varietals from Bee Hunter Wine, Frey Vineyards, Graziano, Jaxon Keys, Maple Creek, McNab Ridge, Murder Ridge, Philo Ridge, Powicana Farm and Terra Savia. This event is held rain or shine. General admission $20 in advance or $30 at the door ($5 junior admission tickets ages 6 to 16; Free for children under 5. A $25 additional fee covers wine tasting, and includes a complimentary keepsake tasting glass!
Mendocino Coast Garden Tour
Midsummer is the time to find blooming gardens and great garden activities for everyone in the family. Mendocino Art Center’s Mendocino Coast Garden Tour on Saturday, June 30 is a magical behind-the scenes opportunity to see six of the coast’s most magnificent private gardens. Bountiful sights to see this year include Digging Dog Nursery, Village Garden, Glass Art Garden, Gazebo Garden, and Dragon Rox. The Garden Shop and Plant Sale at the center is open Saturday, June 30 from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the annual garden-themed art show features a wide spectrum of paintings, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, photography and more, through July 1. Mendocino Coast Garden Event for Kids
“Veggie Gardening for Kids” at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens is happening from 10:00 a.m. to Noon on July 14. The Lil’ Sprouts Workshop is for children ages 8 to 10, and is a great introduction for kids with “budding green thumbs”. They’ll work and play while planting, nurturing, and harvesting in the organic vegetable garden. No experience necessary! Call 707-964-4352 ext 16 to sign up.
